Aimed at students, independent artists, and studios exploring advanced workflows, Project Greylight delivers a professional VFX experience without the need for custom pipelines or content management systems. The toolkit is designed to be artist-friendly, facilitating project development within Solaris. It is available for download and will receive updates to address any issues that arise.
In September, Andreas Weidman introduced Project Greylight at the Houdini HIVE Horizon event in Toronto. The workshop sessions from this event are accessible online, covering topics such as USD concepts, toolkit fundamentals, project setup, asset management, layout, animation, FX, lighting, and best practices.
Andreas Weidman, the creator of Project Greylight, brings over two decades of experience in visual arts, including roles as an art director, concept artist, and VFX supervisor. His portfolio includes contributions to productions like “Westworld,” “Fear the Walking Dead,” and “The Mandalorian.” As an early adopter of Solaris in production, Weidman developed the Greylight Project Toolkit in collaboration with SideFX.
Project Greylight represents a significant advancement in VFX workflow management, offering accessible tools and resources to streamline complex processes for artists and studios alike.
