In Project Borealis: Prologue, players will revisit the snow-covered streets of Ravenholm, a location familiar to Half-Life fans. The game is built using Unreal Engine 5, offering modern graphics while preserving the original’s atmosphere. The development team has focused on recreating Half-Life 2’s movement and gameplay mechanics to ensure an authentic experience.
The project originated from Epistle 3, a blog post by former Half-Life writer Marc Laidlaw, which outlined the intended plot for Half-Life 2: Episode Three. Inspired by this, a global team of developers formed to bring the story to life, culminating in Project Borealis.
The prologue serves as a standalone experience, showcasing the game’s mechanics and setting the stage for the full Project Borealis game. It features updated visuals, an original score, and reimagined environments, aiming to deliver an experience worthy of the Half-Life legacy.
