Nvidia has officially unveiled its GeForce RTX 50-series GPUs, introducing four new models: the RTX 5090, RTX 5080, RTX 5070 Ti, and RTX 5070. These GPUs are based on Nvidia’s Blackwell architecture and feature significant advancements in performance and efficiency.

Product Lineup and Pricing:

  • RTX 5090: Priced at $1,999, this flagship model boasts 32GB of GDDR7 memory and 21,760 CUDA cores. Nvidia claims it delivers up to twice the performance of the RTX 4090, with a total graphics power of 575 watts. Availability is set for January 30, 2025.
  • RTX 5080: At $999, the RTX 5080 features 16GB of GDDR7 memory and 10,752 CUDA cores. It’s designed to offer double the performance of the RTX 4080, with a total graphics power of 360 watts. It will also be available starting January 30, 2025.
  • RTX 5070 Ti: This model comes with 16GB of GDDR7 memory and 8,960 CUDA cores, priced at $749. It has a total graphics power of 300 watts and is expected to be twice as fast as the RTX 4070 Ti. Availability is scheduled for February 2025.
  • RTX 5070: The entry-level model in this series, priced at $549, includes 12GB of GDDR7 memory and 6,144 CUDA cores. It offers performance comparable to the RTX 4090, with a total graphics power of 250 watts. It will be available in February 2025.

Key Features:

  • New Founders Edition Design: The RTX 50-series introduces a redesigned Founders Edition with two double flow-through fans and a 3D vapor chamber, allowing the RTX 5090 to fit into smaller form factor PCs.
  • Advanced Memory and Connectivity: All models utilize GDDR7 memory, support PCIe Gen 5, and include DisplayPort 2.1b connectors, enabling support for displays up to 8K at 165Hz.
  • DLSS 4 Technology: The introduction of DLSS 4 offers significant improvements in performance and image quality by leveraging AI to predict and generate additional frames, potentially multiplying frame rates by up to 8x over traditional rendering.

Mobile GPUs:

Nvidia is extending the RTX 50-series to laptops – models including the RTX 5090 (24GB GDDR7), RTX 5080 (16GB GDDR7), RTX 5070 Ti (12GB GDDR7), and RTX 5070 (8GB GDDR7). These laptops are expected to be available starting in March 2025.

These announcements were made by Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang during the company’s keynote at CES 2025 in Las Vegas. The new GPUs are poised to set a new benchmark in gaming and professional graphics performance, offering substantial upgrades over the previous generation.
