1X Technologies has opened pre-orders for NEO, a humanoid robot designed to handle household chores, with deliveries scheduled for 2026. The 5-foot 6-inch robot is priced at $20,000 for a one-time purchase or available through a $499 monthly subscription.
NEO is built to perform real chores like folding laundry, organizing shelves, and putting things away, with voice-first interaction. At 66 pounds, NEO can lift 154 pounds and operate at just 22 decibels—quieter than a refrigerator. The robot features 22 degrees of freedom in its hands and can operate up to four hours on its internal battery.
However, early adopters should note that human teleoperators will need remote access to control the robot and see inside homes through its camera to teach the machine and gather training data for autonomous operation. 1X CEO Bernt Børnich has described this as a “social contract,” where users must be comfortable sharing data from their homes for the product to become truly useful.
